About

Mike Spade is the owner of Skydda, LLC. Mike has over 25 years of law enforcement, tactical, investigative, and leadership experience with a large West Central Florida police department. He is designated as a Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner (FCPP) by the Florida Attorney General’s Office.

During his career, Mike served for eight years on the SWAT Team.  Mike deployed as a SWAT member for Hurricane Charley relief efforts in 2004 to suppress looting. In 2005, Mike was deployed to South Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma as one of the supervisors of a state-wide response team.  He responded as part of the Incident Management Team to Hurricane Michael, a Category 5 hurricane in 2018 that struck the Florida Panhandle. 

Mike commanded the organized crime, narcotics, digital forensics, and street crimes units of his department. He was then the officer in charge of recruiting, hiring, background investigations, and training for his 350-person agency. Mike is a trusted security advisor, having conducted security risk assessments, continuity of operations planning, and security training for government, business, critical infrastructure, and healthcare facilities.

Mike has taught Continuity of Operations Planning, Emergency Preparedness, and Active Shooter to Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHCs) throughout Florida.  Mike has delivered security training to thousands of municipal employees, healthcare workers, business and citizen group members.

Mike graduated from the University of Florida in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is a 2017 graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Senior Leadership Program and a 2022 graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville.  Mike is also a graduate of the DEA’s Drug Unit Commander Academy.  Mike holds the Crime Prevention Practitioner designation from the Florida Attorney General’s Office, certifications incident management and healthcare security.
